Noticing difference - aiming for change: an introductory workshop to Developmental Transformations (DvT).

A weekend workshop in Drama Therapy (February 10-11, 2017)
Led by Gideon Zehavi, MA, RDT/BCT
Life is unstable and ever changing. In a time where political and social upheaval prevails many times we feel our life choices narrow and anxiety on the rise. In days gone by there seemed to have been some sort of certainty; a social order that one could work with or work against. Today our lives are in constant flux. How can we as mental health professionals keep an open mind and reintroduce spontaneity into the therapeutic playspace? How can we support our clients in playing with what seems unplayable? And how can we, clients and therapists alike, experience a growing sense of playfulness and freedom in spite of the reality we live in?
In Developmental Transformations (DvT), a form of drama therapy, we connect to our playfulness and creativity, say ‘yes’ to our clients and actively improvise with them. We meet in the safety of the playspace and through embodied and dramatic encounters support our clients in experiencing greater levels of freedom in their lives.

In this two-day experiential workshop we will learn about key concepts, working techniques and interventions in DvT group and individual therapy. DvT was created by David Read Johnson, PhD. in the late 1970s and since then has been a vibrant and continuously developing model in drama therapy worldwide. Today there are ten DvT postgraduate training institutes around the world. Through DvT practice, that is the continuous transformation of embodied encounters in the playspace, we gradually experience greater levels of freedom and gain a sense of dynamic equilibrium in our lives.
